CANON: The Flash
CANON HISTORY: here
CANON PERSONALITY:
Cisco is the type of person that you can feel comfortable with fairly easily. He’s funny, smart, and quick to pull a great joke out of thin air. He's a reliable friend to the end and he has a smart head on his shoulders, despite his sense of humor.
Most of his intelligence comes from the years spent studying to impress his parents and make a name for himself. He’s book-smart and quick on his feet. His knowledge is an array of science and useless trivia. The knowledge stems from books he loved as a kid, to the shows and movies he indulges in as an adult. When it comes to pop-culture, his mind is a steel-trap and he is quick on the draw for a reference or comparison. Fantasy and fiction has always been an enjoyable escape for Cisco, and it bleeds into his everyday life through his clothing choices and the remarks he makes.
Beneath that intelligent mind and kind smile is a self-conscious young man. Cisco grew up in the shadow of his brother who was always perfect. His brother could do wrong, and it seemed like Cisco could do no right. While his parents were loving, they pushed him to do more, be better, and tried to steer him towards a future they wanted. Cisco felt pressured to go along with it, to gain their approval, but he always seemed to fall short of it. He was never “the best”, so he settled on something he was passionate about: science. Even now, he craves praise and acknowledgement, even if he’d too afraid to ask for it. It’s something he’s actively working on, and throughout the show he develops more confidence and the ability to stand up for himself, even to people he once “looked up to.”
Since the start of the show, Cisco has undergone a considerable amount of character development. At first, Cisco is seen as almost timid, following the every command and whim of his boss, who he has grown up idolizing in the field of science. Cisco seems to derive much of his happiness from making a difference at STAR labs and the connections he's made there. His coworkers, Caitlin and Ronnie, seem to be a second-family to him, even before the show begins. When Ronnie dies, Cisco seems to hold that guilt with him for a long time, thinking that there must have been something he could have done differently, that he just wasn't enough save him. It isn't until Caitlin's express forgiveness that he's finally able to move on. As the show progresses, he grows even closer to Caitlin, trusting her advice. Caitlin seems to be like a sister to Cisco, and their friendship is one of the things he cherishes most.
Cisco's relationship with people isn't all positive, however. After Barry accidentally alters the timeline so that Cisco's brother dies, Cisco's near-brother relationship with Barry takes a hit. Like Caitlin, Barry had been a person that Cisco could rely upon, could confide in, and generally a person that he enjoyed being around. It takes awhile for Cisco to fully forgive Barry. However, the important part is that even with the death of a family member, Cisco is still able to overcome that grief and desire for revenge. He doesn't blame Barry. He forgives one of his best friends, even though he's been hurt. This step forward shows tremendous growth on Cisco's part, that he's able to see beyond the black and white.
Many other events have aided to Cisco's transition from the quiet scientist to the dependable, fearless friend that'll risk his life for another. Harrison Wells' betrayal, while devastating to Cisco who viewed him as a boss, a mentor and a friend, taught Cisco many things. He would never trust blindly again. Furthermore, he learned the value of what he did have: the importance of his friendship with the rest of the team at STAR labs. While Cisco remains suspicious of new people as a general rule (see Harry and HR), he is quick to befriend them once they show him they aren't "evil Wells" and have good intentions deep down. Cisco wants to believe that everyone has some good in them, and he tries to find the good in a person even when they've broken his trust.
All in all, Cisco is a loyal friend to the end. It takes him awhile to warm up to someone beyond friendly acquaintances, but once he gets to know someone, he is fiercely devoted. He would do anything to protect his friends, even if it meant putting his life on the line. His friends are the building blocks of who he is and are the most important thing in his life. His friends bring him happiness and are a second-family to him: one that supports him and wants to see him happy no matter what.
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
After the particle accelerator explodes, Cisco slowly begins to develop superhuman powers. In his world, this is considered a trait of a “meta-human.”
His powers specifically focus on the ability to narrow in on one person. This usually comes from the briefest touch. These visions usually are of the person’s future, but sometimes if he focuses enough, he can reach out through time and space to discern where a person is in the present.

PHYSICAL DIFFERENCES: He looks the same as he does in the show, but he obviously does not have his powers here. It does not alter his appearance.
AU HISTORY:
Cisco had a pretty normal life growing up in the city. He had a younger brother – who was always the best at everything and could do no wrong in his parent’s eyes -- whose relationship with Cisco is strained at any given time. While the two brothers clearly love each other, there is tension and a fight for their parent’s approval. Dante is wonderful at music, something his parents always loved about him, since they themselves were small-time musicians. While Cisco plays guitar, he's never taken to music quite like his younger brother, and he feels that because of it, he's a disappointment to his parents.
Cisco’s parents, who clearly love their sons equally, have always been a big part of his life. However, Cisco did veer off the path his parents tried to lay down for him. Cisco didn’t want to be a lawyer, a doctor, or a musician. He didn’t want to be a performer. Instead, he wanted to embrace his love of science. Science was something that made sense to Cisco. Unlike his canon counter-part who looked up to Harrison Wells and STAR labs, Cisco seemingly "fell into" science here in the city. Cisco joined the science club on a whim in high school. There, he met one of his best friends who he still talks to frequently. It was his friend that encouraged him to continue taking science classes and quit band (which his parents had been forcing upon him for the previous two years). It was his friend that instilled in him courage to be himself and to make himself happy. It was a life lesson Cisco had never fully grasped until that moment, when he realized his best friend was similarly situated with parents that just didn't understand.
Which lead him to Cisco to apply for a bachelor’s degree in engineering after high school ended. He spent the typical four years in college, crushing tests and pulling all-nighters. During college, he didn't visit his parents all too much, blaming his workload. Really, he hated the family gatherings and the stress and anxiety they caused him. His brother went on to be a famous musician in the city and Cisco, while he tries his best not, feels jealous of the attention, of his parent's approval for Dante and not him.
Nonetheless, Cisco ended up graduating with high honors and pursued an internship that lead into a full-time job at a hot technology company in the city. He’s worked there ever since, and does a lot of the background coding for their products. Cisco and his best friend, while attending different colleges, remain in touch today and like Barry and Caitlin, his friend is the rock in his life. While Cisco's relationship with his parents remains tumultuous, and he's still "finding himself", he's happy.
His life is pretty simple: get up, go to work, watch tv. He has his friends that he sees fairly often, but nothing is exactly “exciting” besides the projects he’s been working on as of late. He does tend to go to the local coffeeshop once in awhile for Open Mic night, where his friend encourages him to pick back up the guitar, just for old time's sake. And it's the first time Cisco has actually enjoyed playing, when it's been for fun and not under the stress and guidance of his parents.
AU PERSONALITY:
Cisco’s personality is very similar to his counterpart back home. He grows up in the city with parents who have extremely high expectations for him and a brother that can do no wrong. There’s a deep-rooted fear of failure in Cisco that drives him forward to keep pushing the limits of science and of himself. He wants to make his family proud, but he’s reluctant to admit that is a large part of the reason why he works so hard.
Unlike his show counterpart, this Cisco does not have a particular focus. He does not have a desire to work for the leading laboratory STAR. He does not have an idol that he looks up to in the scientific world. While this isn’t a big change, it does prevent him from blindly following the gospel of a single person or entity.
A big difference in the city is that Cisco does not have the friendships he built from STAR labs. He does not have the unbreakable bond with Caitlin, and he doesn’t have the anguish from watching the accelerator blow up. He doesn’t have the loss of a friend, Ronnie, and he doesn’t have the personal shame of being part of something that blew up in his face (literally) and cost so many people loved ones and their sense of “normal.” Without these bonds, Cisco seems a bit of a floater in the city. He isn’t as settled in with who he is and what he wants in life. While he has his best friend from high school who he sees frequently, he doesn't have a "group." He's never really met a group of people that he perfectly meshes with. And that's fine with him, since he's always liked darting between activities (work, coffee, laser tag) on a whim.
The challenges he faces throughout the show morph Cisco into the suspicious but kind-heated person he is. Here in the city, Cisco still trusts blindly. Here, Cisco still looks up to the "famous scientists" and local legends. To him, they are heroes that can do no wrong. Cisco also doesn't truly appreciate his family, as he does in the show when his brother is ripped away from him. Cisco has yet to undergo the same deep character development that the show brings him.
